Improvements

Feel free to watch the videos below at 1.5x speed!

Core intranet

  • Segments are now live, and can be enabled on your intranet. Segments allow an organization to provide tailored experiences for different groups of employees within a single company-wide intranet. Employees can be segmented based on a number of attributes. Think of them as viewing the same information through different lenses. Learn more about segments
  • Subscriptions can be defined by segments.
  • (As of 24.05) pre-built App tiles are now available on your home and site dashboards. With App tiles, users can access important information from some of their most commonly used applications directly on the intranet home page! We currently offer six pre-built App tiles, including:
    • Salesforce CRM
    • JIRA
    • Workday
    • Google Calendar
    • Outlook Calendar
    • ServiceNow

  • Carousels on home and site dashboards now allow users to control their speed when moving to the next piece of content, offering three different speed options to choose from (10 seconds, 5 seconds and 3 seconds).
  • The text editor now allows you to retain styles and formatting of content pasted from Microsoft Word, has a built-in spell checker and allows table borders to use your org's brand colors. The published page will now match the site’s style, with the same fonts, included images, and consistent formatting as the original document. In addition, the following formatting options are now supported:
    • Support copy-paste of floating images

    • Support copy-paste of font properties

    • Support copy-paste of tables

    • Support copy-paste of nested lists

    • Support copy-paste of table border colors

  • Analytics have been improved to highlight mobile adoption compared to web app usage. Learn more
  • Users can now create content campaigns, which are groups of similar content intended for audiences to consume together. Campaigns can be tracked, allowing for comprehensive monitoring and measurement of their success. Audience insights are provided to improve present and future campaigns. Note that campaigns are not a method of sending content to users, but rather a tool for tracking similar content. Learn more

  • App and Site managers will now receive monthly app/site analytics report emails. The Site managers will receive these reports only for the site(s) they manage. These can be disabled in the Manage > Application menu. Learn more about report emails
  • App analytics now has a 'Teams' tab, where App managers can view My team dashboard usage and track leaderboards and performance over time. Learn more about My team dashboards

Changes to roles and permissions

As we gear up for a major enhancement in your intranet roles and permissions, it was necessary to remove some existing permissions within the platform. Below is the list of removed permissions. These permissions will not appear while creating any new or editing an existing custom role. If your org has been using these permissions, our Support team will be in contact with you to discuss solutions until the major roles enhancement.

Note that App managers will still have all these permissions by default, and for the time being, can control them all just as before.

Permission name

Comments

  • Manage OAuth client applications

  • Manage sandboxes

  • Google analytics

  • Manage subscriptions

  • Manage audiences

  • Manage expertise

  • Attribute values

  • Profile fields

  • Manage password policy

  • User integration

  • Add topic

  • Update topic

  • Delete topic

  • Merge topic

  • List managed topics

  • View application

  • View account details

  • App managers have all these permissions by default and can manage these features

  • These permissions will be removed from the existing custom roles

  • End users will be able to add new topics by default

Changes to the 'End user' role

‘End user’ has been renamed to ‘Standard user’

The Standard user role has ‘Add topic’ permission by default. It means that all standard users would be able to add existing topics while creating a content or feed post.

User and role management permission changes

The user permissions below have been made co-dependent on one another. In other words, checking any of these permissions will check all the rest. This means that either none or all permissions have to be assigned to the user.

  • Create users
  • View users
  • Edit users
  • Change user status
  • Create role
  • View role
  • Update role
  • Delete role
  • Manage user sessions
  • Login as
  • People edit profile

If there are any existing custom roles created with any of the above permissions, permissions will be removed and will need to be reassigned again by the App manager manually. Any user assigned with this role would have all the permissions mentioned above.
