Supported exchange rate options in Peer gifting

Updated 22 days ago

Overview

Peer gifting supports only the out-of-box exchange rate options delivered with the product. Custom rate types or values outside those options are not supported.

Use this article when a user asks to enter, override, or configure an exchange rate option that does not appear in the product's standard selection list.

What happened

The exchange rate field on the Gifting options screen only accepts one of the out-of-box options. It does not accept a freeform value, and it does not support adding a new rate option.

Symptoms

  • The exchange rate field only shows a fixed set of selectable options.

  • Users cannot type a freeform value or add a new exchange rate option.

  • An attempt to use a method outside the displayed options is not available in the interface.

What to do

Select one of the standard exchange rate options from the dropdown. A custom rate type or value cannot be configured on this screen.

Prerequisites

  • Access to Manage > Recognition > Rewards > Peer gifting > Gifting options.

  • Permission to view or maintain the record being updated.

Step 1: Open the exchange rate field

RR.webp

Navigate to Manage > Recognition > Rewards > Peer gifting > Gifting options.

Expected result: The exchange rate field or dropdown is visible and shows the available standard options.

Step 2: Review the available out-of-box options

Open the list of exchange rate choices and select one of the options provided by the application. The following standard options are available:

  • 1 point = 1 USD

  • 10 points = 1 USD (Recommended)

  • 20 points = 1 USD

  • 25 points = 1 USD

  • 50 points = 1 USD

  • 100 points = 1 USD

Expected result: Only product-delivered options are available for selection.

Step 3: Apply a supported option

Choose the option that best matches the business scenario from the available list. Do not enter a custom option or configure a value outside the delivered choices on this screen.

Expected result: The record accepts the selected supported option and saves successfully, provided all other required fields are valid.

Verification

  • Confirm the selected exchange rate option is one of the values available in the dropdown or selector.

  • Save the record and verify no unsupported custom exchange rate option is required.

  • Reopen the screen and confirm the saved value remains one of the standard out-of-box options.

What is supported

The application supports only the exchange rate options that are delivered and visible in the standard interface for this field.

  • Selecting one of the predefined options.

  • Using the field as designed in the standard product flow.

What is not supported

Custom exchange rate options, unsupported overrides, or values outside the standard delivered choices are not allowed in this screen.

  • Adding new exchange rate types directly in this field.

  • Entering a freeform custom option when the field is list-based.

  • Using any rate-setting behavior not provided by the out-of-box product options.

Preventive guidance

  • Review the available exchange rate options before designing a process that depends on a specific rate selection.

  • If a business requirement depends on a rate option not shown in the product, validate the requirement against standard product capabilities early.

  • Train users that this field is controlled by delivered application behavior rather than custom freeform input.
