This guide is self-contained — every permission and scope required is listed in the steps below. For why each permission is needed, alternative permission models, and the full security and permission-propagation details, see Permissions & Security - Oracle HCM.
Who you need to be
Oracle HCM administrator, or a user with permission to create integration accounts and assign Oracle HCM roles
Ability to grant REST API access to learner learning records
Simpplr Enterprise Search administrator access to add and configure connectors
Network and firewall
Outbound HTTPS access from Simpplr Enterprise Search to your Oracle HCM Cloud tenant URL (for example, https://{tenant}.fa.{region}.oraclecloud.com)
Allowlist your Oracle HCM tenant hostname if your organization restricts outbound traffic
Credentials you will need from the source
Oracle HCM domain — your tenant base URL
Username — integration account username
Password — integration account password
Sign in to your Oracle HCM Cloud administrator console.
Identify your Oracle HCM domain — the base URL for your tenant (for example, https://acme.fa.us6.oraclecloud.com).
Create or designate an integration user for Enterprise Search.
Assign the integration user an Oracle HCM role with REST API read access to learner learning records (for example, Human Capital Management Integration Specialist). See Permissions & Security - Oracle HCM for why this is needed.
Confirm the integration user can read learner assignment records within your Oracle data security policies.
In Simpplr, go to: Manage features → Enterprise search → Add source.
Search for and select Oracle HCM learners.
Enter a Connection name for this instance.
Enter the connector configuration:
Oracle HCM domain — your tenant base URL
Username — integration account username
Password — integration account password
Click Save configuration and confirm.
Note: This creates the connector, but data sync does not begin yet. You can configure advanced ingestion rules and audience scope before the first sync runs.
Filters control which content gets indexed. All filters are optional — if none are set, all learner assignment records the integration account can read are indexed.
Set date filter - limit indexing to learning assignments updated after a specific date
Set Audience configuration (optional) — restrict the connector to a specific Simpplr audience. Only members of the selected audience will be able to find this content in Enterprise Search.
Click Save and sync — this saves the configuration and initiates the first full sync.
Alternatively, click Exit to save and resume setup later. To start the sync manually, go to Enterprise search → Oracle HCM → Status and click Sync now.
Note: Admin UI filters (folder-style include/exclude controls) are not available for this connector in the current release.
Monitor progress at: Enterprise search → Oracle HCM → Status.
The dashboard shows sync status, total items indexed, and any errors.
What success looks like:
Shortly after the connector is initialised, the status shows In progress and the item count begins increasing.
When the initial full sync completes, the status shows Success and Oracle HCM learner assignment records appear in Enterprise Search.
Initial full sync duration depends on the number of learning items and assignment records — large tenants can take several hours.
