Carousels in Landing pages

Updated 3 days ago

Overview

Carousels bring rotating, visual content — intranet content, social campaigns, albums, and more — onto your landing pages. This chapter covers how to add a carousel, the new placement flexibility that landing pages unlock, the carousel configuration panel, and a new quick-edit capability that lets managers update carousel content directly from the published page.

What's new for carousels

On the old home dashboard, the carousel lived in the hero section, fixed in one position that could not be changed. Landing pages remove those restrictions entirely:

  • Place a carousel anywhere — a carousel can be added to any section and any column, just like a tile. It is no longer pinned to a hero position.

  • Carousels adapt to their column — the carousel adjusts its view to the space it is given. It works even in a narrow 33% column, and if you change the section's layout (for example from three columns to two), the carousel resizes and changes how it presents its content accordingly.

  • Multiple carousels per page — you are no longer limited to a single carousel. Add one carousel in one section and another in a different section — how you set up carousels across the page is entirely up to you in the builder.

Adding a carousel

To add a carousel, go to the section and column where you want it and choose Carousel from the add options. The add-carousel flow is intentionally unchanged from the previous dashboard — the interface and all functionality remain exactly the same, including:

  • Naming — give the carousel a name, or skip it.

  • Content selection — search and add the content to rotate through: intranet content, social campaigns, albums, and the other content types you used before.

  • Personalized carousel — enable or disable personalization. When enabled, each user sees a mix of your manually added items and items personalized to them; manually added items remain in the carousel for a period before automatic removal.

  • Carousel layout — choose between the Standard and Showcase formats.

  • Default image fit — choose Cover (recommended) or Contain for how images fill the carousel.

Select Add and the carousel is placed into the column, immediately adopting the width of the column it sits in.

The Edit carousel panel

Selecting a carousel on the canvas opens the Edit carousel panel on the left — the same three-tab structure used for tiles:

Tab

What it controls

Appearance

The carousel title toggle and the tile style (None, Default, Page, or Custom).

Content

Edit carousel content — change, add, or remove the items in the carousel.

Settings

Restrict to audience — who can see this carousel.

In detail:

  • Carousel title — a show/hide toggle. As with tiles, the title text is defined when adding or editing the carousel itself; here you only choose whether to display it.

  • Tile style — the same styling model as tiles applies: None for no styling, Default for the organization-wide style from Manage branding, Page to reuse the page's shared style, and Custom for one-off styling of this carousel only.

  • Content — Edit carousel content reopens the carousel content picker, where you change the items as you want, using the familiar flow.

  • Settings — Restrict to audience limits the carousel's visibility, following the same containment rules as any widget: the carousel's audience must be within its section's audience.

The carousel menu: autoplay and content

Each carousel on the canvas also has a three-dots menu with two direct actions: Start/Stop autoplay to control whether the carousel rotates automatically, and Edit carousel contents to jump straight into the content picker without going through the edit panel. Both routes — the menu shortcut and the usual edit layout path — lead to the same content editing experience, so you can use whichever is quicker.

Quick content editing on the published page

This enhancement was added in direct response to Early Adopter Program feedback. Previously, adding a few items to a carousel meant a chain of steps: edit the landing page, then edit the carousel, then add the content.

Now, when a manager with edit privileges views the published landing page, an edit icon appears directly on the carousel — alongside the existing edit options for the dashboard and the landing page. For example, an app manager with edit landing page privileges sees all three.

Selecting the carousel's edit icon opens a focused editing mode in which all other options are intentionally disabled — you can only add or remove content within the carousel. This makes it a fast, safe way to refresh carousel content without opening the full builder or touching the page's design.

Note: Who sees the edit icons is governed by privileges: only users with edit rights for the landing page see the quick-edit option on the published page. End users without those privileges see the carousel content only.
