Progress indicator for multi-page forms

Updated last month

Overview

Form participants can now see their progress while completing a multi-page form. This helps users understand how much of the form is left, move through longer forms with more confidence, and complete submissions with less uncertainty.

Before you begin

This feature is available for form participants on AWS. The progress indicator appears on multi-page forms only and is not shown on single-page forms.

What is new

When you open a multi-page form, a progress indicator appears at the top of the form. As you move from one page to the next, the indicator updates to reflect your current position.

  • Shown for multi-page forms only

  • Displayed at the top of the form

  • Remains sticky while you scroll so progress stays visible

  • Updates dynamically as you move forward or backward between pages

  • Uses your organization's branding color for a consistent visual experience

How it works

The progress indicator gives you a clear sense of where you are in the form at all times.

  • On the first page, the indicator shows the starting state for page 1 of the total number of pages.

  • When you select Next, the progress indicator advances to the next page.

  • When you select Back, the indicator returns to the earlier page state.

  • On the final page, the indicator reaches the end state before you submit the form.

Troubleshooting

The progress indicator is not appearing on a form.

  • What happened: The progress indicator only appears on multi-page forms. If the form has only one page, no indicator is shown. This is expected behavior.

  • What to do: Confirm that the form has more than one page. If it does and the indicator is still not appearing, refresh the page and try again. If the issue persists, raise a support request.

The progress indicator is not updating when moving between pages.

  • What happened: The indicator is designed to update dynamically each time you select Next or Back. If it is not updating, there may be a temporary display issue with the browser or device.

  • What to do: Refresh the page and resume the form. If the indicator still does not update after navigating between pages, try accessing the form from a different browser. If the issue continues, raise a support request.

The progress indicator is not visible while scrolling.
