How the refreshed experience works

1. Browse the people list

The mobile directory opens with a redesigned People listing screen. The header includes key navigation and discovery controls, while the list itself is optimized for scanning colleagues quickly.

  • Header includes: People title, sorting, search, and filter controls

  • List includes: Total user count and a list of people results

  • Each user card can show: Profile photo, user name, job title, department, division, and location

2. Search for colleagues

Search support on mobile has been improved as part of the refresh. Earlier mobile limitations were focused mainly on name-based search, while the broader People Directory roadmap introduced support for searching across standard and custom fields. This refresh builds on that improved discovery direction for mobile.

If a search does not return results, the experience is expected to show a clear no-results message rather than leaving you unsure what happened.

3. Filter results

You can narrow the directory using a broader set of filters than before. Supported filters include standard people fields and, where available, custom fields:

  • Department

  • Division

  • Job title

  • Location

  • Manager

  • Expertise

  • Hire date

  • Time zone

  • Custom fields, if available for the tenant

For tenants using segments, you may also see a toggle to limit results to segment data. This is intended to help keep results relevant to your scoped context.

4. Sort results

Sorting has been added to help you organize results in more useful ways. The refresh supports sorting by common people fields and ordering results from A to Z or Z to A.

Sort behavior is not fully static. Some options are always available, while others appear dynamically depending on the applied filters and context. Default sort options include Name, Department, Division, User Type, Job Title, and Assistant. Additional options such as Hire Date, Time Zone, and People Category appear dynamically in certain cases.

Quick actions from the directory

The refreshed directory is not just for browsing. It also makes it easier to take action directly from a person's listing entry:

  • View contact information to quickly get in touch

  • Open org chart to understand reporting structure and team context

  • Follow colleagues to stay connected with their activity

  • Add favorites for faster access later

These actions reduce the need to navigate away from the directory just to complete a simple task.

What users benefit from

  • Faster discovery: Easier to find the right colleague without excessive scrolling

  • Better context: More employee information is visible directly in the results

  • Less friction: Common actions are available from the directory itself

  • More consistency: Mobile discovery capabilities are better aligned with the broader People experience

  • Improved usability: Updated UI patterns support modern mobile interaction expectations

This refresh is especially useful when you need to quickly identify someone by department, location, title, or reporting context and then immediately contact or follow them.

Known behaviors

  • Some sort options are dynamic and appear only when relevant filters are applied.

  • Available filters depend on tenant configuration, enabled fields, and whether custom fields exist.

  • The segment data limitation toggle appears only when segments are enabled for the tenant.

  • The experience was explicitly validated across supported devices and configurations.
