Sections are the building blocks of a landing page. Each section spans the width of the page and is divided into columns into which you add widgets. You can add as many sections as you need and configure each one independently.
Select Create section to add a section. By default, a new section uses the three-column layout (33% / 33% / 33%). You can change the layout at any time from the Layout selector in the Edit section panel.
There are two categories of layouts:
Structured column layouts — fixed column arrangements that keep content in a consistent grid.
Flex layout — a free-form canvas with no column structure, letting you place widgets anywhere within the section. (Flex sections are covered in detail in a later part of this series.)
Available structured column layouts:
Layout | Column widths |
|---|---|
1 column | 100% |
2 columns | 50% / 50% |
2 columns | 66% / 33% |
2 columns | 33% / 66% |
2 columns | 60% / 40% |
2 columns | 40% / 60% |
2 columns (nested) | 66% nested / 33% |
2 columns (nested) | 33% / 66% nested |
3 columns | 33% / 33% / 33% |
On the Appearance tab, you can give each section an optional title and description that display at the top of the section:
Section title — toggle the title on and enter up to 148 characters. Choose a title size: Small, Medium, Large (default), Extra large, or Extra extra large.
Section description — toggle the description on and enter supporting text, with size options of Small, Medium, Large, and Extra large.
Alignment — align the title and description to the left, center, or right.
Two behavior settings control how a section responds to its content and to what each viewer is allowed to see:
Collapse empty columns — when some columns are empty, other columns automatically expand to fill the available horizontal space, preventing unused gaps. A column counts as empty for a viewer if no widget is added to it, or if the viewer is not in the audience of any of the widgets it contains. If you turn this off, empty columns keep their space.
Column stickiness — keeps columns aligned by making shorter columns stick as users scroll, ensuring consistent vertical positioning even when column heights differ. This is useful when one column holds long content (such as a feed) alongside shorter columns.
Each section can be styled independently under Section styling:
Theme — choose Default (your brand's default styling), Primary, Gray, High contrast, No background, or Custom for your own styling options.
Top padding and Bottom padding — sliders to increase or decrease the spacing above and below the section's tiles.
Border — enable a section border and configure its position, width, and color.
The Settings tab of the Edit section panel contains two powerful controls:
Allow users to control — enable this to make a section user controlled. End users can add, manage, and customize their own tiles within that section, and the content they add is visible only to them individually. This replaces the previous user-controlled versus manager-controlled dashboard model: control is now granted per section rather than for the whole page.
Restrict to audience — limit the section's visibility to a subset of the landing page's audience. Use this to show a section only to the specific audience you select.
Within any section, use Add to the landing page to add content. Three types are available:
Tile
Carousel
Feed
These are the same widgets you used on the previous dashboard — their capabilities and user experience are unchanged in this release, so tiles, carousels, and feeds you are familiar with work exactly as before, now placed inside sections.
While structured column layouts keep your content in fixed, predictable grids, flex sections give you complete freedom over how widgets are sized and positioned. In a flex section, tiles dynamically adjust their size and position based on the available space and content, creating a more adaptive layout.
In a structured (fixed column) section, you can drag and drop widgets between positions, but every widget conforms to the column grid — you cannot change an individual tile's width or break out of the column structure. To change the arrangement, you switch the section to a different column layout.
A flex section removes the column structure entirely. It is a free-flow canvas where you decide the size and position of each widget yourself.
Behavior | Structured column section | Flex section |
|---|---|---|
Column grid | Fixed columns define widget widths | No columns; free-form canvas |
Widget sizing | Determined by the column layout | Resizable per widget, via drag handles or the tile layout settings. Widgets maintain their min sizes - Feed : 7 columns, tiles and carousel : 4 columns |
Widget placement | Drag and drop between column positions | Place widgets anywhere in the section |
Initial widget size | Fills its column | Starts at the widget's minimum size |
Gap handling | Collapse empty columns option | Compact layout option and Reflow tiles |
Create a section and choose Flex layout from the layout options. The section becomes a free-flow canvas with no column boundaries, and you can start adding widgets to it right away.
Minimum size by default — when you add a widget to a flex section, it initially takes the minimum size defined for that widget type. Each widget type (tile, carousel, feed, and so on) has its own minimum size
Feed : 7 columns
Tiles : 4 columns
carousel : 4 columns
Resize with drag handles — every widget has a drag handle you can use to freely resize it to your requirement, from its minimum size up to the full width of the section.
Resize from tile layout settings — the same resizing options are also available when editing the tile's layout, just as in structured sections.
Automatic positioning — as you add and resize widgets, they position themselves within the available space based on their sizes.
Flex sections include a Compact layout behavior toggle that rearranges tiles to remove empty gaps in preview mode and on the published page:
Disabled (default) — tiles stay exactly where you place them, preserving your arrangement including any intentional empty space.
Enabled — when the page is previewed or published, tiles automatically rearrange to remove empty spaces as much as possible, producing a tighter, neater layout.
When Compact layout is enabled and you make changes in the builder, a Reflow tiles option appears in the editor toolbar. Select it to see how your tiles will rearrange themselves — without leaving edit mode or opening the preview. After a reflow, the option reappears the next time you make a change.
Flex sections support the same appearance and settings options as structured sections, including the section title and description with alignment controls, section styling (theme, padding, and border), user control, and audience restriction.
Note: Structured layouts offer designs that are known to look good with minimal effort, while flex sections let you decide exactly how your landing page should be composed. Choose whichever fits each part of your page.
