Overview

The BambooHR connector allows Simpplr Enterprise Search to index your BambooHR Company Files, making handbooks, policies, and shared forms discoverable and searchable directly within Simpplr, alongside all other configured sources.

With this connector, you can:

Search BambooHR Company Files that are shared with employees — including handbooks, policies, and forms — without leaving Simpplr
Find approved HR documents by title, category, uploader name, and extracted text alongside other connected sources
Search BambooHR with permissions enforced when document-level security is enabled — indexed files are visible to synced BambooHR employees; when it is off, use Audiences to scope who can discover this connector
Search results and AI-generated summaries from BambooHR appear alongside all other connected sources in Simpplr.

Access level	Read-only — the connector never modifies content in BambooHR. BambooHR administrator rights are not required.
Enforced permissions	BambooHR does not expose file level permissions. The connector indexes only Public files which are visible to all BambooHR users by default. Audience filter restrictions set in the connector are respected.
Credential scope	Company Domain, API Key (service account); Company Files read access per category; View on employee Work Email and Home Email
Audiences	Connector can be enabled or disabled for specific audiences within Simpplr.

Sync schedule	Incremental sync: every hour · Full sync: every week
Filters	Document age (default: last 2 years), File Category include/exclude

Only files marked as shared with employees are indexed. That share gate is always on and is not a customer toggle.

Known limitations

Only Company Files shared with employees are indexed — files visible only to certain BambooHR roles and not shared with all employees are not indexed.
BambooHR does not expose per-file permission lists beyond the share-with-employees flag. Indexed shared files are searchable by all synced BambooHR users.
Files larger than 10 MB: content not extracted, metadata only — files remain findable by title and category.
Employee directory profiles, employee files, reports, training records, and benefits records are not indexed.
Text within images and scanned PDFs is not extracted or searchable.
