Overview

The KnowBe4 training due app tile surfaces security training reminders directly within Simpplr. It allows employees to quickly see which trainings are due or overdue from their dashboard, without navigating to KnowBe4.

The tile provides visibility into pending trainings and offers a quick way to open KnowBe4 to complete them.

How it works

Once configured, the tile displays a list of training items assigned to the logged-in user. Each item includes the training title and its current status, such as due or past due.

The tile shows a limited number of items initially to keep the dashboard uncluttered. If more trainings are available, users can expand the list to view additional items.

To complete trainings or view full details, users can open KnowBe4 directly using the “Show all in KnowBe4” option. Individual training titles are not deep-linked.

Using the tile

  • View trainings: the tile highlights trainings that require attention. This helps users quickly identify what is pending without leaving the dashboard.

  • Take action: to complete a training, users must open KnowBe4. The tile acts as a visibility and access point, not a completion interface.

  • View more items: if multiple trainings are assigned, select Show more to expand the list and see additional items.

Tile behavior

  • The tile displays a maximum of 4 items initially

  • “Show more” appears when additional trainings are available

  • Status indicators reflect due or overdue state

  • Content is user-specific and dynamically updated

Configuration options

When adding the tile, managers can control how the training status filter is set:

  • App manager defined: A fixed configuration applied to all users

  • Site manager defined: Controlled at the site level

  • User defined: Users configure their own view

In user-defined mode, the tile first appears in an empty state. Users must set their preferences before training data is shown.

Setup

Connect KnowBe4

Go to Manage → Application settings → Integrations → Custom apps, and configure the KnowBe4 connector using a valid API token. Ensure the connection is enabled.

Add the tile

From the dashboard:

  1. Open Manage dashboard & carousel

  2. Select Add tile → External → App tiles

  3. Choose KnowBe4 – Trainings due

  4. Set a title and configuration option

  5. Save and publish

Once added, verify the tile appears for the intended users.

Permissions and access

The tile shows only the logged-in user’s training data. Visibility depends on:

  • Dashboard or site access

  • Valid KnowBe4 integration

  • Correct user mapping between systems

When the tile may not show data

The tile may appear empty if:

  • No trainings match the selected status

  • The KnowBe4 connection is not active

  • The API token is invalid or expired

  • User identity mapping is incomplete

Troubleshooting

Tile is visible but empty

Check the KnowBe4 connection and ensure the user has assigned trainings.

“Show all in KnowBe4” does not open

Verify browser pop-up settings and confirm the integration is working correctly.

Tile remains in setup state

In user-defined mode, the user must complete the initial setup and save their preferences.

Note:

  • The tile does not support completing trainings directly within Simpplr

  • All actions are completed in KnowBe4

  • Data is refreshed based on integration updates
