The Notify participants toggle gives Survey managers more control over how a survey launch is communicated. During survey creation, you can decide whether eligible participants should receive the standard launch notification when the survey goes live.
Who this is for: Survey managers.
What it does: Lets Survey managers choose whether participants are notified when a survey is first launched.
When you launch a survey, the Notify participants setting determines whether the initial launch notification is sent to eligible participants.
If enabled: Eligible participants receive the standard survey launch notification, based on their existing notification settings.
If disabled: No initial launch notification is sent, and the in-app survey popup is not shown at launch.
This setting is useful when you want more control over the timing and visibility of a survey announcement. You can:
Launch a survey quietly, without sending the first notification immediately.
Coordinate survey rollout with a broader communication plan.
Avoid notifying participants before internal teams are ready.
Time the launch to fit your audience and campaign.
The toggle applies only to the initial launch notification. It does not change any other survey access or delivery behavior. Unaffected areas include:
Survey visibility
Audience eligibility
Survey sharing permissions
Reminder notifications
Notifications for users who become newly eligible after launch
Important: Turning off Notify participants does not hide the survey or prevent eligible users from accessing it through normal survey rules.
A Survey manager is preparing an employee survey but wants to wait until a leadership message goes out before notifying employees. They launch the survey with Notify participants turned off, then manage communications separately without triggering the initial launch notification or the in-app popup.
