Survey notifications now have their own controls, separate from other organization communications. App Managers can configure organization-wide defaults for survey alerts, and end users can adjust their personal preferences independently. Settings cover both email and mobile push notifications.
Previously, survey notifications were grouped under Org communications and appeared greyed out, meaning even App Managers could not adjust them.
Surveys now appear as a separate feature with their own notification settings in two places:
Manage > Application > Defaults for organization-wide defaults, managed by App Managers
User profile > My settings > Notifications for per-user preferences, managed by each user
Both locations include independent controls for email and mobile push notifications.
Go to Manage > Application > Defaults.
Select Surveys from the features list.
Toggle email notifications and mobile notifications on or off as required.
Save to apply the defaults to all users who have not customised their preferences.
Go to User profile > My settings > Notifications.
Open the Surveys section.
Toggle email and mobile notifications to your preference.
Changes take effect immediately for future survey notifications.
Organization defaults set the initial state for all users. When a user updates their survey notification preference, their setting overrides the default for that user only. Changing organization defaults at a later point does not overwrite existing user customizations.
Reduce push volume while maintaining visibility: Set email on and mobile off as the org default so users receive survey alerts without push notifications.
Time-sensitive surveys: Enable both email and mobile at the org level when rapid responses are critical.
Routine engagement surveys: Encourage teams to personalise their own preferences so notifications fit their work style.
Align survey notification defaults with your communications policy and the criticality of each survey.
Announce the change to employees and include a direct path to My settings > Notifications > Surveys so they can personalise their preferences.
For campaign-style survey programmes, configure org defaults in advance and include notification guidance in the survey announcement.
Periodically review completion rates and adjust org defaults for future surveys if response rates suggest notification fatigue or low visibility.
Users are not receiving survey notifications
What happened: Survey notification defaults may be turned off at the org level, or individual users may have disabled their personal preferences. Mobile notifications additionally depend on the user being signed in to the mobile app with push enabled.
What to do: Confirm that survey notifications are enabled in Manage > Application > Defaults. Ask the affected user to check My settings > Notifications > Surveys and verify their email and mobile toggles. For mobile, confirm the user is signed in to the mobile app and has push notifications enabled on their device.
The Survey notification setting is not visible in Manage > Application > Defaults
What happened: You may be looking under Org communications, where surveys were previously grouped and appeared greyed out.
What to do: Go to Manage > Application > Defaults and look for Surveys as a separate feature in the features list, not under the Org communications section.
Users are reporting too many survey alerts
What happened: Org defaults or user preferences may have both email and mobile notifications enabled, resulting in alerts on multiple channels simultaneously.
What to do: Review and update the org defaults in Manage > Application > Defaults to reduce notification volume, for example by turning mobile off. Guide users to My settings > Notifications > Surveys to customize their own preferences based on what works for them.
Q: Do the new settings apply to surveys that are already in progress?
Ans: Yes. The current org defaults and user preferences apply to any survey notifications sent after the change is saved. Notifications already sent are not affected.
Q: Which notification channels are supported?
Ans: Email and mobile push. Users can enable one, both, or neither, depending on org defaults and their personal preference.
Q: Can I make survey notifications mandatory for all users?
Ans: Org defaults set the recommended behaviour for users who have not customised their preferences. If you require a specific notification channel for particular surveys, communicate this expectation to your organisation and enable the relevant channels at the org default level before the survey launches.
