Admins can optionally customize how a connector appears in Enterprise search by setting a Custom connector type (display name) and a Custom connector icon. Both fields are optional — if left blank, the connector continues to use its default type name and icon.
This lets search align with your organization's internal branding and terminology so end users can recognise and filter by the names they use day to day.
You can set these fields when you create a connector, or update them later from the connector configuration screen. Both fields are optional at all times.
In Simpplr, go to: Manage features → Enterprise search → Add source
Search for and select the connector
Enter a Connection name for this instance (this is the admin-facing name on the connector listing page).
Optionally set branding for search:
Custom connector type (optional) — enter the display name you want users to see in search. If left blank, the default connector type name is used.
Custom connector icon (optional) — click Add icon to upload an image. If no file is uploaded, the default connector icon is used.
Complete the rest of the connector setup as usual, then save.
Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
Formats | SVG and PNG |
Maximum file size | 100 KB |
Recommended size | 210 × 210 px (square) |
Once set, the custom branding appears wherever source identity is shown to end users:
Surface | What users see |
|---|---|
Side filters & facets | Custom Connector Type and Custom Connector Icon (or defaults if unset) |
Search result cards | Connection name, plus the custom icon when available (otherwise the default icon) |
Autocomplete & typeahead | Custom branding on suggestions and recent results |
Smart Answers | Custom name and icon on source attribution / citations |
The connector listing page in admin is unchanged: it continues to show the Connection name and the default connector icon only.
If neither field is set, behavior matches the previous experience — users see the standard connector type name and icon everywhere.
