The Activity Dashboard gives newsletter managers a bird's-eye view of how their entire newsletter programme is performing over time not just a single send. This article explains how to access and interpret the dashboard.
You must have newsletter manager permissions or be an App manager or Analytics manager.
The Activity Dashboard reflects data from all sent newsletters. Archived newsletters are excluded from this view (though their data is still visible in Category analytics).
Go to your User menu and select Newsletter.
From the newsletter management area, click the Activity tab (or Analytics tab, depending on your release version).
The Activity Dashboard loads with your programme-level metrics.
At the top of the dashboard, three headline numbers give you an instant health check on your newsletter programme:
Metric | What it shows |
|---|---|
Newsletters sent | Total newsletters sent in the selected period, with a comparison to the previous period |
Average open rate | Open emails ÷ sent emails, with period comparison |
Average CTR | Unique clicks ÷ sent emails, with period comparison |
Below the hero metrics, a chart plots open rate and CTR trends across your selected time period.
Look for upward trends to confirm that content improvements are working.
Look for dips to identify periods where engagement dropped these may correlate with content changes, send time changes, or audience fatigue.
On the upgraded analytics platform, you can also:
Switch between time bucketing options (daily, weekly, monthly) to view trends at different levels of granularity.
Use drill-down interactions on chart data points for deeper exploration.
Below the chart, a table lists all sent newsletters with:
Newsletter name.
Date sent.
Recipients (count).
Open rate.
Click-through rate.
Use this table to:
Quickly compare performance across newsletters.
Identify your best and worst performing sends.
Spot patterns (e.g. newsletters sent on Tuesdays consistently outperform those sent on Fridays).
By default, the table shows a limited number of newsletters. Click Show more to load 25 additional newsletters at a time, allowing you to review your full historical performance.
Archived newsletters are excluded from the Activity Dashboard but are still counted in Category analytics.
Up to 1% variance may exist between the Activity Dashboard and the CSV download.
Historical user data: analytics use the user's profile data at the time the event occurred, not their current profile.
Q: What's the difference between the Activity Dashboard and the analytics for a single newsletter?
Ans: The Activity Dashboard shows programme-level performance across all sent newsletters over time, while single-newsletter analytics focus on the metrics for one specific send.
Q: Do archived newsletters show up in the Activity Dashboard?
Ans: No. Archived newsletters are excluded from the Activity Dashboard, although their data still appears in Category analytics.
Q: How is Average CTR calculated?
Ans: Average CTR is calculated as unique clicks divided by sent emails, shown with a comparison to the previous period.
Q: Can I see trends at a daily, weekly, or monthly level?
Ans: Yes, if you're on the upgraded analytics platform (available from the 26.01 release). You can switch between daily, weekly, and monthly time bucketing to view trends at different levels of granularity.
Q: How can I compare the performance of my past newsletters?
Ans: Use the sent newsletters table below the trend chart, which lists each newsletter's name, date sent, recipient count, open rate, and click-through rate, making it easy to spot your best and worst performing sends.
Q: The table only shows a few newsletters by default. How do I see more?
Ans: Click Show more to load 25 additional newsletters at a time, letting you review your full historical performance.
Q: Why might the numbers in the Activity Dashboard differ slightly from my CSV download?
Ans: A variance of up to 1% can occur between the Activity Dashboard and the CSV download due to how the analytics data is processed.
Q: If an employee's department changes, will past newsletter analytics update to reflect it?
Ans: No. Analytics use the user's profile data at the time the event occurred, not their current profile, so past sends will continue to reflect the original department.
Q: Who has access to the Activity Dashboard?
Ans: You need newsletter manager permissions, or to be an App manager or Analytics manager, to access the dashboard.
