Recognition analytics dashboard refresh

Overview

As of the 25.12 release, we've developed enhanced Recognition analytics on Simpplr's new analytics platform. The dashboards include:

  • Overview
  • Activity
  • Participation
  • Company value
  • Rewards

Key improvements

Some of the key improvements that our users will experience as a part of this upgrade are the following:

  • Enhanced filter functionality with multi-select options for attributes like department and location
  • Flexible time bucketing options on timeline charts to view trends at varying granularities
  • Drill down options on charts for deeper analysis

Time filter enhancements

A new “Year to Date” time filter has been introduced, complementing the existing options such as 30 days, 90 days, and custom date ranges. This filter displays metrics from the start of the current year (January) to the present date, enabling users to analyze year-long trends and patterns in adoption and other performance metrics.

This filter is applied across all applicable dashboards and allows users to view metrics on a "Year to Date" basis. For example: to track Adoption trends across months within the current year.

Note:

All time filters are applicable to the widgets globally. Widget level time filters are no longer available.

Filter enhancements

Multi-select functionality has been introduced across all available filters, including Department, Location, and User category. This enhancement allows users to select multiple filter values simultaneously, making it easier to compare data across segments and generate more flexible, insightful reports. By enabling broader combinations of filters, reporting and data exploration more flexible.

Improved time filter granularity to see trends

This applies across all dashboards showing data on a timeline and provides the flexibility to see data at a level of granularity of the users' choice.

Time filter granularity has been enhanced across all dashboards displaying timeline-based data. Users can now choose their preferred time bucket, such as daily, weekly, or monthly views, to analyze trends with greater flexibility. By default, data continues to display at a daily level.

You can access this by selecting the downward arrow next to the X-axis label (e.g., "Date”) to select the desired granularity.

Chart showing time granularity options

Time granularity controls how the chart groups data over time.

Choose day, week, month, quarter, or year to view detailed activity or zoom out for broader trends.
Use daily for pattern spotting and monthly or yearly for long-term analysis without visual clutter.

Recognition Analytics 2.webp

This chart shows recognition given by date at a daily level. Each data point represents the total number of recognitions sent on that day.

Daily view is useful when you want to:

  • Spot spikes in activity

  • Notice sudden drops or unusual patterns

  • Track short-term changes

  • Identify days with unusually high engagement

Because the data is shown day by day, you may see sharp peaks and dips. This is expected and reflects real user activity rather than averaged trends.

To change how the data is grouped:

  • Click the arrow next to the Date label on the X-axis

  • Select Week, Month, Quarter, or Year

  • The chart will update to group data by the selected time period

If the chart looks too busy, switch to Monthly or Weekly view to see smoother, long-term trends instead of daily fluctuations.

In the daily view, each point on the chart represents the total recognitions given on that day. This view shows sharp rises and dips, which helps detect sudden spikes, drops, or unusual patterns in recognition activity.

Use daily view when you want to closely monitor ongoing activity or find short-term trends.

In the monthly view, all recognition data for each day is grouped into a single value per month. This reduces visual noise and makes long-term trends easier to understand.

Use monthly view when you want to compare performance across months or track engagement patterns over time.

Datapoints

If the Recognition Given chart with monthly granularity enabled, you will see:

The timeline on the X-axis shows recognition trends over multiple months.
The Y-axis shows the total number of recognitions.

Next to the Date label on the X-axis, there is a time granularity control that lets you switch between Day, Week, Month, Quarter, and Year.

On right-clicking a data point, a menu appears with options to:

  • Drill down

  • Show underlying data

  • Run SpotIQ analysis

The Drill down menu shows attributes such as recognition giver, recognition receiver, department, location, and user details. These options allow deeper analysis of recognition data by people or organizational units.

Drill down option on charts

Drill down functionality has been introduced across all recognition dashboards, enabling users to explore data at multiple levels of granularity.

This enhancement allows users to interactively navigate from high-level summaries to detailed breakdowns by clicking on specific data points or categories within charts.

By providing greater depth and flexibility, the drill down feature makes it easier to uncover insights behind top-level metrics and analyze underlying patterns or trends more effectively.

To drill down on any data point: Right click on the Data point > Drill down > select the attribute to drill down on.

Users can select any attribute to explore data in greater depth and analyze specific data points.

Example: Drill down on a "Recognition giver user department" to view the departments of users who gave recognition in the month of August.

Note:

The downloaded CSV file follows a standard data structure that remains consistent regardless of the drill down performed.
