Content AI Summary

What is content AI summary?

Content AI Summary gives you a quick, auto-generated overview of a page so you can catch the important points without reading everything in detail. It’s especially useful for announcements and knowledge pages that tend to be long or packed with details.

Think of it as a time-saver: a short version upfront, with the option to dive into the full page whenever you need more context.

Where you’ll see it

You'll find the content AI summary in pages as of now. You can find it under:

  • News (eg. announcements, news or updates)
  • Knowledge (eg. document, resource or policy)

Note:

This app setting is turned off by default for existing customers who haven’t enabled other AI features like Writing Assistant or Smart Answer. It is automatically enabled for all new customers.

What you can expect?

  • A short summary appears at the top of supported pages by default.

  • Summaries are usually shown as 3–6 bullet points (key facts, actions, or takeaways).

  • A Show more link expands the summary to reveal extra detail; you can collapse it again.

  • AI summary will be visible for pages that have more than 300 words.

Simple visual example (what the user sees):

How to use it

  1. Open an announcement or knowledge page.

  2. Read the short bullet list at the top to get the essentials.

  3. If you need more context, click Show more to expand the summary; collapse when done.

  4. If the summary looks incomplete, read the original page for details or follow up with the page owner.

Practical tip: use the summary to decide whether to read the whole page now or save it for later.

Admin controls

  • Go to Manage application > General.

  • Default: Enabled — summaries appear to users automatically.

  • If you Disable, the AI Summary section is hidden from end users.

  • Turning back on re-enables summaries for supported pages.

If a user reports they don’t see summaries, first check this setting.

How to write pages that summarize well (for authors)

If you create content and want better summaries:

  • Put the core message or action in the first paragraph.

  • Use clear headings and short paragraphs.

  • Use explicit facts (dates, owners, action items) rather than vague language.

  • Use lists for steps or outcomes that the AI tends to capture list items more reliably.

These small changes help the summary surface the right takeaways.

Privacy notes

The summaries are automatically generated, which means they may occasionally miss subtle details or misinterpret the tone of the content. They should be viewed as helpful pointers rather than final or authoritative statements. If you have any concerns about how content is handled from a security or privacy perspective, it’s best to reach out to your internal security team or system administrator for clarity on where and how the information is processed.

FAQs

Q: Why don't I see an AI summary on a page?
A: Confirm the page type (announcements or knowledge pages). If the page type is supported, ask an admin to check Manage application > General to see if Content AI Summary is enabled.

Q: What if the summary is wrong or misleading?
A: Read the full page before acting. If the summary is consistently incorrect, report the page to your content owner or support team with the page link and a note about what’s wrong so the summary logic can be reviewed.

Q: Can I turn off the summary for myself?
A: AI content summary can only be enabled/disabled at the application level, not by an individual user.

Q: Will the AI follow links or read attachments?
A: Summaries are generated from the page’s visible text. External links or attachments may not be fully captured in the short summary.
